Day one

Together with Ab Reitsma andJohan Offringa we, Matty Kamminga and Dore Steenhuizen, travelled up north to Copenhagen to join the EFMC 2012 conference on the 22nd of May. Lots of preparation was done before this day.

In February 2012 we needed to hand in our registration form, poster and presentation. Although we graduated in 2011, it took us some time and energy to make a poster that translates all the research and recommendations, which we wrote in a period of five months. After having done so, we needed to wait until the jury would send us an e-mail and inform us whether we were selected or not.

In the beginning of April the both of us received the good news from EFMC that we were selected and are welcome to join the conference in May.

During the first day we not only enjoyed the beautiful city of Copenhagen, city hall, and a Carlsberg, we also talked with many different companies, individuals and other students or graduates.

After having handed in our posters at the Bella Conference Centre, we took a taxi down town to join the welcome reception. The reception was held in the beatiful town hall, where lots of history and culture of Denmark can be seen. Photos of the conference centre, town hall and city will be uploaded ASAP.

So, who is present? What kind of people? Which companies? And why?
We noticed that there are many teachers, professionals, associations and students are present during the conference. Most of the people are here to re unit with their colleagues and, of course, to gain new contacts. However, the atmosphere is not as such that everybody is trying to do business. Rather, people enjoy their time by catching up and share information. And we also have to say that together with the other candidates of the poster competition, teachers, colleagues, and FM professionals we are having a good time.

Thursday, we will present our posters for the first time. In between the introduction and workshops, one can walk by the thirteen posters. We will keep you updated!
